Oklahoma’s DIY Solar Power Stop

Solar Power – Tulsa calls its namesake home. We are members of a community of solar power entrepreneurs trying to help the average handy-person realize their energy potential. This site is sponsored and owned by Hemphill Solar, but is dedicated to helping business owners, homeowners, and tinkerers set-up their own solar power systems. Our journey begins with a simple problem we know all too well at Hemphill Solar; “how much solar do I need and what can I do with it?”.

We get a lot of phone calls at our office asking that simple question. The question makes so much sense to us at Hemphill Solar, heck, that’s how we started out nearly seven years ago. Like many new business ventures we are still trying to find ourselves and our place in the community. Solar power has been on the coasts for over a decade, but it’s new here in Oklahoma. For the first time solar power makes economic sense for home and business owners in Oklahoma. Hemphill Solar’s primary business is installing commercial grid-tie (we’ll learn more about that later) solar power systems. We realized long ago that we were not going to be a residential solar installer, but that doesn’t mean we don’t get people asking us to install a system on their home. After years of turning residential customers down it was time for us to offer help to the residents of Oklahoma wanting to power their homes with the sun. This website is our answer to the question we receive all too often.

Earlier this month Hemphill Solar launched a web store where people in Tulsa can purchase solar power kits for their homes or their hobby’s. We offer several different size solar power packages in both grid-tie and off-grid configurations. “How much solar power do I need? What is grid-tie? What is off-grid?” These are questions that will need to be answered before anyone can purchase a solar power package. It is our hope that this website can help answer those questions and be a guide for realizing everyone’s solar power potential.
